Joseph A. Levato and Anthony D. Mascia are co-founders and partners of Essential Fund Services International, LLC (EFSI), an independently owned, SOC 1 compliant, full-service fund administration firm based in New York and New Jersey. Levato oversees EFSI’s operations and Mascia oversees EFSI’s business development and marketing. Levato was born and raised in New Jersey; he graduated from Miami University in 1988 and earned his MBA in Corporate Finance from Fordham University in 1996. He worked his way up to Vice President of Planning & Analysis at Marsh McLennan. In 2005, he became Global Chief Financial Offers at Citi Hedge Fund and Private Equity Fund Services (formerly BISYS Alternative Investment Services), with financial responsibility in the US and overseas. Levato was also a member of the BISYS Executive Management Committee. He then served as Director and Head of North America Operations & Chief Financial Offers at Advanced Fund Administration. Seven years later, he established EFSI with Mascia. Levato is an avid golfer. He currently resides in Morris County, New Jersey with his wife and children

Mascia was born and raised in the Bronx and is a graduate of Fordham University. He began his professional career in 1999 as a trader and member of the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT). He also joined the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and co-founded a National Futures Association (NFA) regulated brokerage business that consisted of national and international clientele. Mascia was responsible for developing a division specializing in food and fiber commodities on the NYBOT exchange until it went fully electronic in 2008.

He is credited with growing revenues for his division by more than 250% annualized in the first three years and continuing to grow the business at more than 30% a year thereafter. After leaving the floor in 2008, Mascia went on to build a guaranteed independent brokerage firm focused on investing in alternative strategies through an affiliation with MF Global until 2011, where he raised multiple millions in assets for the managed futures industry. His exceptional success record in the industry is based upon his expertise in finance and marketing skills, as well as his extensive networking resources.

This skill set is ideal for training and development of effective team leadership as well as the implementation of new business models in the first and most critical stages. Mascia is motivated by recognizing and meeting crucial challenges evolving from current changes affecting the global economy. With his years of exchange-based experience, Mascia is well-suited for the application of new technology, new products, and updated business paradigms to foment successful management strategies for both existing and emerging business models. Mascia is an avid musician and winemaker. He currently resides in Westchester County, New York with his wife and children.
